WATCH & READ: Defend America Action Releases New Report on Trump’s Affordability Crisis in Colorado

By July 27, 2026No Comments

Rep. Crow: “Every facet of our economy is being squeezed, and Coloradans are feeling it.”

WASHINGTON, DC Today, Defend America Action is releasing a new report highlighting how Coloradans are being squeezed on all sides by the cost of living, whether it’s a housing crunch that ranks among the worst in the nation, gas prices climbing nearly 80 percent amid Donald Trump’s war in Iran, or Trump’s policies driving 14 clean energy project cancellations, wiping out roughly $281 million in investment across the state.

Defend America Action also hosted a press call this afternoon with Congressman Jason Crow (D-CO), as well as State Representatives Brianna Titone and Katie Stewart, to discuss Trump and Congressional Republicans’ affordability crisis in Colorado.

“This is the single biggest issue impacting my constituents throughout the sixth district in Colorado. They are getting absolutely crushed in every single way,” said Congressman Jason Crow (D-CO). “Every facet of our economy is being squeezed, and Coloradans are feeling it. Constituent after constituent is having to choose between paying for prescription drugs or their health care premium, or paying their rent or their mortgage, and meanwhile, you have a president who says that affordability doesn’t matter.”

“We’ve seen the cost of restaurants going up. Restaurants are closing in some places because they cannot afford to pay their employees because their margins are getting slimmer,” said Colorado State Representative Brianna Titone. “We’re seeing the cost of fertilizer and fuel for the farmers, which are the backbone of the economy in Colorado, get squeezed. We are seeing the cost of housing going up, and we see Donald Trump delaying a really pivotal housing bill.”

“The Trump administration has not been helping my communities,” said Colorado State Representative Katie Stewart. “We’re seeing higher prices at the pump, higher prices at the grocery store, and decreased access to federal services because of HR 1. His misguided tariff policy has put a blanket tax on products that we can’t grow here in Colorado, and it’s not protecting American jobs. It’s making it harder for Southwest Coloradans to get by.”
