The number of uninsured Californians is projected to double from 2 million to 4 million by 2030 after the Trump-GOP budget gutted Medi-Cal and Republicans in Congress ripped away the tax credits that made coverage affordable. Meanwhile, California gas prices are through the roof, grocery costs keep climbing, and clean energy projects that would have lowered bills are getting defunded left and right.
- COST OF LIVING IS CALIFORNIANS’ TOP CONCERN: In the Public Policy Institute of California’s May survey, 44 percent of Californians named the cost of living, the economy, inflation, and jobs as the most important issue facing the state, more than three times any other issue — the top issue across parties, regions, and demographic groups.
- TRUMP’S POLICIES ARE COSTING CALIFORNIA FAMILIES THOUSANDS: The average California household has had to spend an estimated $4,300 more on goods and services under Trump, per the congressional Joint Economic Committee, including $902 more on rent and mortgage payments. Californians have paid $4 billion more for gas, about $349 per family, since Trump’s war in Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz and sent oil prices soaring.
- TRUMP & REPUBLICANS ARE RIPPING AWAY HEALTH CARE: The Trump-GOP Big, Ugly Bill cut over $1 trillion from Medicaid and the ACA, threatening the Medi-Cal coverage that nearly 15 million Californians, including half of the state’s children, rely on. State health officials estimate that up to 2 million Californians could lose their health care and that the state will lose tens of billions of dollars in federal funding every year.
