Cinde Warmington: “The choices that people are having to make about what bills they can pay and what they can’t are just unacceptable.”
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Defend America Action is releasing a new report highlighting how Donald Trump and Republicans’ tariff-driven inflation is driving up food, energy, and health care costs for Granite Staters. New Hampshire families have spent an average of $2,927 more on goods and services under Trump, and as many as 29,000 Granite Staters stand to lose their health care because of Trump’s Big, Ugly Bill.
Defend America Action also hosted a press call this morning with Democratic candidate for governor and former New Hampshire Executive Councilor Cinde Warmington, State Senator Donovan Fenton, State Representative David Paige, and Protect Our Care New Hampshire’s Mark Gallagher to discuss Trump and Kelly Ayotte’s costly and chaotic agenda and how it’s hurt Granite Staters.
“People all across the state are sick and tired of the corruption and the cruelty. They’re sick and tired of the cost of absolutely everything. The choices that people are having to make about what bills they can pay and what they can’t are just unacceptable,” said Democratic candidate for governor and former New Hampshire Executive Councilor Cinde Warmington. “We need to have a state where everyone can afford to live and raise their families.”
“Across our state, the cost of doing business continues to climb. Whether you’re running a family restaurant, a retail store on Main Street, a manufacturing shop, or just a small inn that depends on summer visitors, business owners are facing the same reality, and that’s higher costs, greater uncertainty, and fewer options,” said New Hampshire State Senator Donovan Fenton. “Granite Staters are paying more because of Trump’s tariffs, and unfortunately, Kelly Ayotte and New Hampshire Republicans have refused to stand up and demand relief.”
“Housing costs here in New Hampshire have just hit another record high under Governor Ayotte. The median price of a single-family home in New Hampshire is now $576,000. The median sale price of a new home is over $700,000,” said New Hampshire State Representative David Paige. “Just 15% of families here in the Granite State earn enough money to realistically afford a median home. That is disastrous here in the North Country.”
“What President Trump and Republicans in Congress have done is made New Hampshire health care consumers poorer with the passage of H.R. 1,” said Protect Our Care New Hampshire’s Mark Gallagher. “It took $1 trillion from Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. It means that almost 30,000 Granite Staters are poised to lose their health insurance. We should not be in a situation in New Hampshire in 2026 where people have to decide whether or not they’re going to go to the hospital.”
