TRUMP TAX DAY: Billionaires Everywhere Celebrate Lavish Tax Breaks In First Trump Tax Day Since The GOP Gutted Health Care and Food Assistance To Cut Taxes For Ultra-Wealthy

By April 14, 2026No Comments

April 15, 2026 marks Tax Day, and it’s no secret that Donald Trump and his Republican allies in Congress have spent the better part of the past year working tirelessly to reward billionaires and big corporations with lavish tax breaks, gutting over $1 trillion from health care coverage and food assistance programs that tens of millions of working American families rely on to put food on the table and go to doctor. The Trump-GOP tax agenda has been staggeringly regressive, shovelling money into the pockets of a small group of wealthy elites at the expense of working families. They even gutted the IRS, curtailing enforcement and preventing the agency from holding billionaires accountable for cheating the American people out of the tax money they owe. As more and more companies pay little or nothing in income tax, working families are forced to pick up the tab. Read more about how Trump and his billionaire friends are cashing-in this tax day:

  • TRUMP GAVE A FEW MILLIONAIRES MORE IN TAX BREAKS THAN HALF THE COUNTRY. Trump and Republicans in Congress gave people with incomes over $500,000, less than 2 million individuals, a tax break worth $1.4 trillion. According to the Center on Budget & Policy Priorities, 1.2 million households with incomes over $1 million are getting more in tax cuts than the 127 million households with incomes below $100,000. In fact, the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy found that the Trump-Republican tax changes will actually increase taxes paid by middle-income Americans by an average of $900 this year. Trump paid for the tax break by slashing Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, and food assistance.
  • TAX BREAK? FORGET IT: High Prices Offset The Few Tax Breaks Working Americans Were Promised:
  • PAYING IN BLOOD: Trump Paid For Tax Breaks For Billionaires By Slashing Health Care: Trump cut Medicaid and ACA tax credits, which serve 68.5 million and 21.8 million people respectively, by $1.1 trillion. He is kicking more than 15 million people off their health insurance and raising health care costs for millions more, more than doubling premiums on average. 1.3 million Americans have already dropped their ACA coverage after facing sky-high premiums. Hospitals, clinics, and other essential health care providers are closing their doors due to lack of funding, with over 800 medical centers, clinics, hospital wards, and long-term care facilities already at-risk, closing, or closed.
  • PAYING IN HUNGER: Trump Paid For Tax Breaks For Billionaires By Gutting Food Assistance: Trump cut food assistance, which serves 39.5 million people, by $187 billion. SNAP participation has already dropped 6%, losing 2.5 million people since Trump and Republicans passed their big, ugly bill. More and more working families are losing eligibility due to new red tape or states are cutting them off as they trim their rolls due to new state funding requirements passed by the Trump and GOP.
