Tomorrow, Donald Trump is touching down at the Detroit Economic Club to gaslight voters on his affordability crisis. Trump spent all of 2024 promising Michiganders cheaper prices, 50% lower energy bills within a year, and that he’d “end inflation.” Fast-forward one year, and he’s accomplished none of it. In fact, things have only gotten worse for Michigan families, who are struggling to keep up with the rising costs from Trump’s tariffs. Detroit, MI, 6/15/24: “By this time next year, inflation will be in full retreat. Our economy will be roaring back. Optimism will be surging. American pride will be soaring.”
Grand Rapids, MI, 7/20/24: “We’re going to bring down energy prices very rapidly….Your energy bills will be cut in half, at least cut in half..”

So, gasoline prices are down by a lot. Energy prices are down. Mortgage rates actually just went down. Prescription drug prices just saw their largest monthly decline ever recorded. How about that? Remember what you heard, prescription drug prices just took the biggest plunge ever since they’ve recorded the prices which have basically gone up except for my four years, they did pretty well. But we got to know that system, the system is a bad system. But they just took the biggest dive ever in the history of prescription drug prices. Think of that, that’s a big thing. I’ve got to say it again and again because they will never tell you that. The fake news will never tell you that. Grocery prices have gone down, everything’s gone down.”
