Trump in Tucson 9/12/24: “The inflation, the economy is terrible. Everything is terrible.”
When Trump stood in Tucson in September 2024, he was talking about Biden, but he might as well have been writing his own presidency’s report card. Trump promised Arizonans he would “rapidly reduce inflation” and bring mortgage rates all the way back down to 2% — “very fast.” He called out Arizona by name as “No. 1 in the country for the increase in your electric bills” and swore he’d cut those bills in half within a year. He promised to slash the cost of building a new home by 30 to 50 percent, to “end inflation” and to prevent World War III. Fast-forward to 2026: Trump launched a war with Iran, Arizona families paid an average of $1,569 more in 2025 alone due to Trump inflation, and mortgage rates are nowhere near 2%. The inflation is still terrible. The economy is still terrible. Everything is still terrible. And this time, it’s all his.
