Donald Trump is visiting Pennsylvania today, alongside Congressman Ryan Mackenzie, just weeks before the one-year anniversary of their Big, Ugly Bill, which enacted the largest Medicaid cuts in history. As a result of that bill, and Republicans like Mackenzie killing life-saving ACA tax credits, more than 5 million Americans have already lost their coverage. Mackenzie sacrificed his constituents’ health on the altar of massive tax breaks for big corporations and the ultra-wealthy. Pennsylvanians are paying for it with their wallets and with their lives.
Defend America Action’s Pennsylvania health care report notes that premiums have already doubled for hundreds of thousands, as many as 600,000 Pennsylvanians could lose coverage entirely, and more than twenty hospitals and clinics in the Commonwealth are closing or cutting services.
💊 TRUMP AND MACKENZIE’S BIG, UGLY BILL CUT COVERAGE FOR MILLIONS:
- Medicaid and ACA enrollment has fallen by more than 5 million in the last 12 months, driven by nearly $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts and the expiration of ACA tax credits — which Republicans let die.
- As many as 600,000 Pennsylvanians will lose their coverage entirely, and premiums have increased by an average of 102% for the 420,000 Pennsylvanians who buy insurance on the ACA marketplace.
🏥 TRUMP AND MACKENZIE ARE CLOSING PENNSYLVANIA’S HOSPITALS:
- 23 Pennsylvania hospitals and clinics are closing, cutting services, or at risk — and a third of Pennsylvania’s rural hospitals could follow.
- Pennsylvania stands to lose approximately $20 billion in federal Medicaid funding over 10 years due to Trump and Mackenzie’s cuts.
👨👩👧 PENNSYLVANIANS WANT BETTER — MACKENZIE DELIVERED WORSE:
- 62% of Pennsylvania voters said Congress should restore ACA tax credits. Mackenzie helped kill them instead.
- Just 20% of Pennsylvanians say they are better off financially than a year ago, and a majority say health care costs are their top concern.
