Rep. Titus: “The current policy of this administration – that he’s going to try to brag about – has made a huge difference in making it tougher, more expensive, just for people to get by.”

WASHINGTON, DC
Today, Congresswoman Dina Titus (D-NV-01), Nevada State Senator Edgar Flores, and local advocates participated in a press call to discuss Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans’ affordability crisis. The call came on the heels of a new report from Defend America Action and Battle Born Progress laying out the crisis and its consequences for Nevadans.

The speakers highlighted how, as a result of Trump and Congressional Republicans’ tariff-driven inflation, food, energy, and health care costs are skyrocketing for everybody in the state, while big corporations and the ultra-wealthy cash in on tax breaks. Trump’s anemic economy is hitting the poorest Nevadans the hardest, and it remains the top concern of voters in the state.

You look at the tariffs, the uncertainty for businesses, how they impact the cost of housing, how gas prices have gone up as a result of the war, and the challenge of getting those refunds back in a fair way, and you can see how the current policy of this administration – that he’s going to try to brag about – has made a huge difference in making it tougher, more expensive, just for people to get by,” said U.S. Representative Dina Titus.

“These cuts are coming to Medicaid and Medicare and SNAP, and it’s the most vulnerable members of our community who will be impacted. We have this growing divide between the very top and the bottom. This is just one of those unfortunate realities of the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act, championed by President Trump and supported and enforced by Governor Lombardo,” said State Representative Edgar Flores.

“Affordability is a top issue for voters across the country, including voters in Nevada,” said Battle Born Progress’ Amber Falgout. “Costs are increasing considerably, and leaders like President Trump and Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo have no plan to address this critical issue. From groceries to healthcare, Nevadans are paying more and more for basic necessities. We need leaders who will prioritize policies that uplift our communities.”

“Nevadans are in an economic crisis. Our families are struggling to make rent, buy food, and put gas in our cars. Even with good paying jobs, Nevadans are not seeing their paycheck stretch like they used to. It should not be this hard. The policies from Trump and Congressional Republicans have made life harder for Nevadans,” said AFSCME Retiree Laura Leavitt.
