WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, ADP reported that private sector job hiring rose by the lowest level seen in more than two years. This comes on the heels of the Labor Department reporting that U.S. jobless claims rose by 10,000 more than expected two weeks ago, with uncertainty from Donald Trump’s trade war cited as a primary reason. This new reporting also follows Federal Reserve members expressing concern about Trump’s tariffs and the continued negative impact they could have on both inflation and employment.
In response, Defend America Action Senior Spokesperson Rodericka Applewhaite released the following statement:
“Trump continues to shoot our economy in the foot with his asinine tariffs and trade wars, and hardworking American families continue to pay the price. Trump’s economic policies have made this job market the worst we’ve seen in years, with everyday Americans stuck looking for work while MAGA Republicans push to gut Medicaid and food assistance with the One Big Disgusting Abomination of a bill.”
