WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office once again confirmed what Democrats have been saying for months: Donald Trump’s Big, Ugly, Unpopular Scam is a disgusting abomination that will take away health care from sixteen million Americans, cause premiums and copays to skyrocket for millions more, take food out of the mouths of children, seniors, and veterans, and add almost $2.5 trillion to the deficit, all so Trump and MAGA Republicans can deliver a massive tax break to corporations and the ultra-wealthy. The legislation would be the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in a single law in U.S. history, and is wildly toxic and unpopular with the vast majority of Americans.
In response, Defend America Action Senior Spokesperson Rodericka Applewhaite released the following statement:
“If it wasn’t clear enough already, the Congressional Budget Office put it down in black and white for everybody to see: Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans’ Big, Ugly, Unpopular Scam would be Christmas in July for the biggest corporations and richest people on the planet, and it would be a disgusting abomination for working-class families in America. This bill would punish the most vulnerable among us, taking away health care and food assistance from children, people with disabilities, and seniors, while rewarding the ultra-wealthy with a $279,000 tax giveaway. Republicans are committing political suicide with this bill, but more importantly, they’re putting their constituents in very real danger.”
