HEADLINES: Trump’s Iran War Spikes Gas Prices For Working Families

By March 16, 2026No Comments

There is no question Donald Trump’s deeply unpopular war with Iran is already costing taxpayers billions. But the real cost of the war is hitting working Americans right where it hurts: at the gas pump. In just two weeks, gas prices have soared to astronomical levels, setting multi-year highs with little sign of relief in sight.

This was always on the table when Trump opted to strike Iran. His advisors warned him in advance that Iran could block the Strait of Hormuz, upend global energy markets, and cause fuel prices to skyrocket. He launched airstrikes despite leaving the US exposed to oil shocks after he failed to refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

Worse still, Trump’s war with Iran is hitting home right as Americans are already dealing with GOP policies that have led to mass layoffs, zero job growth, and raised prices on everything from health insurance premiums – all to give billionaires more tax breaks, and themselves golden ballrooms and taxpayer-funded private jets.
