Worse still, revisions from prior months show that the economy added 21,000 fewer jobs in June and July than had been previously reported, both falling far below economists’ expectations, while unemployment has surged to 4.3 percent – the highest level since 2021 – proving that Trump’s reckless tariff agenda and failed economic policies are systematically destroying opportunities for working families across America.
This week’s brutal economic data makes it abundantly clear that Donald Trump is responsible for an anemic economy that is wreaking havoc on millions of working Americans who are struggling to find work and support their families. The labor market is cooling dramatically, with jobless claims rising to their highest level since June this month and labor market growth slowing to a crawl in August. New reporting showed that unemployed workers now outnumber available jobs for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, creating a perfect storm of economic devastation that is crushing working families under the weight of Trump’s incompetent leadership.
