WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, in testimony before the Senate Finance Committee, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. carried Donald Trump’s water and promoted his extreme, dangerous, anti-science health care agenda. Senators called out RFK Jr.’s lies about the COVID-19 vaccine, his replacing of a key vaccine panel with anti-vaccine conspiracy theorists, firing and silencing scientists, new and unwarranted vaccine restrictions, and more. His appearance comes on the heels of more than one thousand HHS employees demanding that he resign for endangering Americans’ health, as well as Trump’s firing of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Susan Monarez, who refused to bend the knee and sign off on new vaccine restrictions.
In response, Defend America Action Senior Spokesperson Rodericka Applewhaite released the following statement:
“If Donald Trump and RFK Jr. actually cared about the well-being of the American people, they’d stop threatening their basic health with their extreme, dangerous, and anti-science agenda. But instead, Trump is letting RFK Jr. ‘go wild’ on health care, just like he said he would, with disastrous consequences for the American people. Kennedy, with the support of Trump and every Republican who voted to confirm him, has promoted vaccine conspiracy theories, slashed research into cures for diseases like cancer and diabetes, fired and silenced scientists, and helped pass Republicans’ Big, Ugly Bill, which is set to gut health care and food assistance for millions of Americans to pay for tax breaks for billionaires. And he just spent the day lying about all of it. To Make America Healthy Again, Kennedy should take the advice of his own employees and resign before his and Trump’s chaotic, corrupt agenda damages our health care system beyond repair.”
