WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Wall Street Journal reported that, contrary to what Donald Trump said last week, the Justice Department told Trump in May that he’s in the Epstein Files. As more details of Trump and Epstein’s long, creepy friendship come out, Trump is threatening media outlets who report on them and desperately hawking shiny objects to distract the American people.
In response, Defend America Action Senior Spokesperson Rodericka Applewhaite released the following statement:
“After lying about it to the American people, Donald Trump’s own Justice Department told him he’s in the Epstein Files. This bombshell reporting proves for the umpteenth time not only that Trump is a serial liar, but that he was, in fact, close friends with disgraced ‘financier’ and convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and they were together constantly.
“Now, Trump is in full-blown panic mode, posting tacky AI videos and ordering his Justice Department to arrest his political opponents to distract the American people. But Trump can’t alter reality with the stroke of a Truth Social post, and his weak, pathetic attempts at a coverup can’t hide his close ties to Jeffrey Epstein. It’s past time for Trump and his administration to fully release all the Epstein files – and for the rest of the MAGA GOP to quit the coverup. The American people won’t stand for anything less and won’t stop demanding accountability, transparency, and justice.”
