WASHINGTON, D.C. — Donald Trump and Republicans’ MAGA Tax Scam to take away millions of Americans’ health care and food assistance to cut the ultra-wealthy a huge tax break just failed in the House Budget Committee. The bill, which increases costs for the bottom 40% of Americans and funnels that money to the wealthiest 5%, has become more unpopular the more the American people learn about it.
In response, Defend America Action Senior Spokesperson Rodericka Applewhaite released the following statement:
“Donald Trump’s Big, Ugly, Unpopular Scam just faceplanted in committee, and the reason is very simple: the American people really hate this bill. Only 14% of the public supports this gift basket of loopholes for the ultrawealthy, which gives it the distinction of being even more unpopular than Trump’s MAGA Tax Scam from 2017. The vast, vast majority of Americans also oppose any cuts to Medicaid, and they know that this bill would enact the largest cuts in the program’s history, kicking millions of families off their health insurance.
“Trump’s minions in Congress may drag this bill across the finish line, and it will cost many of them their jobs and the majority if they do.”
